Sri Sankara Gurukula Veda Patasala was started in the year 1984, by the Grace of His Holiness Sri Paramacharyal of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, in the twin cities of Secunderabad & Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh with Three Vidyarthis under Bhashya Ratna Sri R.Venkatrama Ghanapadigal who is one of the very few Eminent Vedic Scholars in the Country. This was housed in his residence as traditional Gurukula system.
As the Strength of the Patasala has been steadily increasing, Sri Paramacharyal directed that a seperate trust be instituted for further growth and upkeep of the Patasala. Accordingly, in the year 1992, a Trust was constituted and Registered as a Non profitable Charitable Trust under Indian Trusts Act. Later, as the number of Vidyarthis increased, the Patasala was shifted aptly to Veda Bhavan a building owned by Sankara Bhaktha Sabha ( A Sister organisation promoted by Sri Paramacharyal himself in the year 1968) at Chandragiri Colony, Neredmet, Secunderabad.
Blessed by the Acharyals of Kanchi and Sringeri, our Patasala assures that it will ever strive for the Vedic Cause and serve for preserving our ancient heritage of oral recitation and study of Vedas for the peace and welfare of the entire world
