An upholder of Sanatana Dharma, a staunch devotee of the Vedas, a pioneer in “Veda Rakshana”, a revered disciple blessed by the Acharyas of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam and Sringeri Sharadambal Peetam, Veda Bhashya Ratnam, Salakshana Ghanapati, Sri Venkatrama Ghanapatigal has been an acclaimed leader spearheading the revival of Vedic traditions & education for more than 5 decades.
The Sankara Gurukula Veda Patasala was started by him in the year 1984 with the benign blessings of the then Peetadipathi of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, Sri Paramacharya (Pujyashri Sri Chandrashekarendra Saraswathi). What started at home with 3 students, grew with his devotion, dedication and diligence to “Veda Bhavan”, a large institution gaining respect and appreciation across the Dharmic landscape. Hundreds of Veda Vidyarthis graduate from this Patashaala every year after mastering their respective ‘shakhas’ (branches) of either Rig, Yajur or Sama. Many students from other pathashaalas come over for training and mastery under his astute scholarship.
Several young scholars have completed their studies upto “Ghana” stage under his tutelage. With the progressive vision of Sri Venkatrama Ghanapatigal, the students are equipped with skills to serve society, uphold our Vedic traditions, and lead a life integrating with the changing social fabric, as responsible citizens of Bharatha Varsha. They continue to uphold the tradition of “Veda Rakshnam” as employees of various institutions, or as independent Adhyapakas, if they set up their own Patashaalas. The excellence and highest standards set by Sri Venkatrama Ghanapatigal have created benchmarks for Vedic education. As a Guru and Spiritual Advisor,
Our Guru was the epitome of benevolence, deeply invested in the spiritual growth of the community, society and country. He embraced and welcomed change, and adapted to new and improved ways of managing and running the Patashaala at all times. Whether it was ensuring a healthy environment with spotless hygiene, nutritious meals for the students, medical care on call or using technology effectively for the benefit of Veda Rakshnam, Sri Ghanapatigal was always at the forefront of delivering the best service to humanity.
It was a moment of intense pride when Sri Venkatrama Ghanapatigal received the President’s award last year for his service to upholding our vedic traditions.
It is with profound grief that we the Vidyarthis, Management & Staff and the Trustees of Sri Sankara Gurukula Veda Patasala wish to inform you that Sri R Venkatrama Ghanapatigal attained Shivaloka on 10th July 2020, at about 5:40PM, at Hyderabad.
Sri Venkatrama Ghanapatigal’s demise is a colossal loss to the world, his students and the Sankara Gurukula Veda Patasala extended family. We pray Acharyals and our Guru to give us the strength and continue to implement and execute their commands as per their guidance and foundation which they have laid and believe his blessings and grace will continue to influence and guide our lives as always.

I was blessed to meet him for the first time in 1987 or so in a small room where he was living. My association with VB continued thereafter. I have personally been a witness to the growth of this great institution due to his untiring effort and commitment. A very pleasant and a humble human being. My acquaintance with Sri Venkatrama Ghanapatigal Is from my childhood in the late 60’s. He was in his teens and used to live in the quarters at the back of Swarajya press along with his dear friend and Vedic scholar Sri Satya Vagheeshwaran Ghanapatigal. I have always known him to be very sincere, soft spoken, affectionate, loving and caring human being. Mv father greatly admired him due to his commitment, dedication, sincerity and Passion to uphold the Vedic culture and teachings as per the wishes of the Maha Periyavar of whom he was an ardent disciple. I have watched with great respect the beginning and rise of the Vedabhavan and Veda Patasala. The devotion, dedication, care and love he showered on his Vidyarthi’s to nurture them and ensure their all round development to give them all a very respectable career and quality of life apart from the profound knowledge of Vedas is highly commendable. His journey thus far has not been easy. He worked and struggled very hard to bring name, fame and success to the Vedic institution. His passing away is a great and irreplaceable loss to the community and society.
His family, Colleagues, students, disciples , Vedabhavan staff and well wishers, patrons would deeply miss the presence of the founding father and a Noble soul. May he attain peace at the lotus feet of Maha Periyava and Almighty.

Shri Venkatarama Ganapatigal, is a great scholar and a noble person. He is a veda Guru to all our brahmin community. He is fondly known to us as RAMANI. I know him for the last fifty years. He started the gurukulam type Patasalai in his residence at Malkajgiri with a very handful of young students at the behest of Poojyasri Mahaperiyava. From then on he has become a living link of MahaPrriyava. All along he strived hard single-handedly to uphold the values of Sanatana Dharma and conducting all Vedic rituals for well-being of the entire society. His tireless endeavour to bring up the veda patasalai, today had become a Vedabhavan standing tall in the country with all very good scholars and best Vedic students. But, today god’s wish had become otherwise. He had left all the brahmin community in a deep sorrow. At this hour of profound grief my humble submission to all to stand-by the entire Vedabhavan fraternity to pray the almighty to give enough of strength to all of them to continue in the foot steps of our beloved Ramani Anna, to uphold all the dharmic values as was being maintained by him. On behalf my entire family I once again pray the almighty to convey our heartfelt condolences to the entire family .Harahara Sankara Jayajayasankara
