Yajur Upakarma – Avani Avittam which is performed in the month of Sravana, on the full moon day. It is very important that all of us perform this ritual without fail and do prayshchita for removal of all the sins and secure the divine blessings.
PDF and Audio Downloads
The complete Upakarma vidhi is available in Tamil and Sanskrit as downloadable pdf files for the help of all devotees. The Audio recording for the same has also been provided for the benefit of devotees. The Mantras have been rendered by Sri V.Sriram Ghanapatigal
NOTE: While the below PDF and Audio Files will be helpful for the devotees to perform Avani Avittam at the comfort of their home by following these, it is for those who are hard pressed for time and are in remote places where there are not many Vadhyars and also community members to get together and perform this at a common place. Atleast on this day, it would be better if the members and devotees of our community come together at a place like a Temple, Community Halls, River banks, Veda Patasala etc and perform Avani Avittam, and attain the blessings of the Almighty. This would also serve our community to get together and stronger and save our ancient traditions and culture and do Dharma Karyams.

sukran asthangatham (moudyam) is there. sukra shanthi for this must be done. before doing upakarma. sthandilam, punyahvachanam, sukran, athidevatha indiran, prathi athidevatha sasi devi.
16 upachara puja; pravas sukraaya bhaanavae parathvam=====; chanting mantra japam, 4 veda aarampam; brahma sooktham, vishnu suktam, rudra suktam, sri suktam, bhu suktam.etc.
then homam poorvaangam, samith annam aajyam homam=pravas sukraaya==utharaangam. brahmin bhojanam, brahmachari abhishekam, dhakshinai; charity silver -ven pattu, and vairam kadukkan=ear rings; and then doing upakarma. is it correct.shanthi rathnaakaram-uththira paagam page-30.

Smruthi Muktha phalam book says it is enough if you do 5 times sukra mantra homam “Pravas sukraaya bhaanavae bharathvam =============== and then do kandarishi homam as usual. which is enough.

The mantras for the yajur upakarma for Avaniavittam are very useful, but both explanations and mantras are mixed together instead of separate. Explanation for all rituals should have been in a different folder so that reciting mantras can be followed uninterruptedly. Thank you

I belong to Bhodayana Yajur Vedha Shadabarshana Kothram. Pl clarify the following on Avani Avittam Day the order : 1. Kamokarsheen Manthram (with Pavithram). 2. Maha Sankalpam (With Pavithram or Without) along nwith Veda Manthram , 3. Yagyopaveedha Dharanam (With Pavithram or wihtout Pavithram). 4. Usual Amavasya Bhodayana Tharpana Manthram 24 steps, and 5. Kandarishi Tharpanam (Without Teel). Is it OK. Pl tell me the correct one. Thanking you,

Excellent service. Well coordinated audio and PDF files. The mantras are recited slowly and clearly enabling the kartas to repeat easily. Very useful for people living abroad for performing Avani avittam when there are no vadhyars available nearby. The brief explanation before each karma highlighting their purpose, are very good. The narration in the concluding part gives very practical suggestions. May God bless you all.

Excellent service. Well coordinated audio and PDF files. The mantras are recited in a clear voice and slow pace for ease in understanding and repeating. Very useful for people staying abroad when there are no vaadhyars available nearby. Good narration before each karma explaining their significance.
