upakarmaYajur Upakarma which is performed in the month of Sravana, on the full moon day. This year, it  falls on 29th August, 2015

It is very important that all of us perform this ritual without fail and do prayshchita for removal of all the sins and secure the divine blessings.

PDF and Audio Downloads

The complete Upakarma vidhi is available in Tamil and Sanskrit as downloadable pdf files for the help of all devotees. The Audio recording for the same has also been provided for the benefit of devotees. The Mantras have been rendered by Sri V.Sriram Ghanapatigal

NOTE: While the below PDF and Audio Files will be helpful for the devotees to perform Avani Avittam at the comfort of their home by following these, it is for those who are hard pressed for time and are  in remote places where there are not many Vadhyars and also community members to get together and perform this at a common place.  Atleast on this day, it would be better if the members and devotees of our community come together at a place like a Temple, Community Halls, River banks, Veda Patasala etc and perform Avani Avittam, and attain the blessings of the Almighty. This would also serve our community to get together and stronger and save our ancient traditions and culture and do Dharma Karyams.

In case of difficulty or break ups in audio streaming, please download the entire mp3 to your local drive and play.

Excellent service to the community. It is so elaborate that even Thalia avaniavittam vadus can understand and perform.

The gist of the mantras are not known to all. If the same is given in Tamil, Malayalam and English, it would be wonderful.

T VENKATA KRISHNAN · August 25, 2015 at 9:53 am

Very nicely prepared and rendered. One has to closely to follow the mantras to repeat the same. The time gap given in between the mantras is sufficient and those who could not participate in a Madam or temple, can make use of this excellent service rendered by Vedhabhavan. Good service.

Thank you so much. One doubt. In the Kamo Karishit japam sankalpam, the sheet I have print “Simma Masa” whereas your mp3 says “Shravana” Masa. Is both are the same. Kindly clarify.

Shravana in chandramana and sun transits in simha rasi and hence simha masam in souramana.

NAmaskaram,
Thanks for such a wonderful effort. I will try to go through tonight.
I noticed that few things are misisng in all the document (not saying that this one is missing as well)
Things like
sit facing east / north (for step)
where to keep darbhai (and modram made out of darbai – forgetting the name) and how much and when to throw it away.
Can Anyone point this out please.
I guess few tamil documents have got it but I can’t read tamil. I can read sanskrit and understand mantras etc but not to extend where I understand instructions.
Any help will be appreciated

CR Sreenivasan · August 29, 2015 at 9:52 am

I am really grateful for the elaborate PDF document and the excellent mp3 rendition by Sriram Ghanapadigal. Normally, even if one goes to a common place to perform the upa karma under the guidance of a Vadhyar, he may not find all the contents to perform, as rendered here.
To cite a few, Samitha dhanam for Brahmacharis, Brahmayagnam, Vedarambham etc. are some of the rituals which I miss every year. From last year, I am doing Samita dhanam for my son at Home before going to the common place, with little confidence. This year, Samita dhanam was performed comfortably, after listening to the mp3 audio.
I get a feeling that performing the upakarma at home will be more elaborate, than at the common place (after listening to the mp3 audio) because we will not miss any of the rituals. I expect you to clarify please.

S.Krishnamurthy · August 29, 2015 at 9:53 am

Namaskarams.
The Avani avittam mantras in mp3 downloads is a need-of-the-day.
A very useful and noble service.
It was of great help to all those who have no access to vadhyars.
Anticipating more such packages including amavasya tharpanam.
Two suggestions for the improvement:
1. The pdf format has some spelling mistakes and also in few places different from the narration in the mp3. Proper proof reading to be done and corrected.
2. The mp3 of Vedarambam abruptly stopped midway. I was forced to complete it with the pdf format. Not sure whether the swaras and text were correct while doing so.
The above two points are only for improvement and in no way degrades your sincere effort.
Thanks and Namaskarams
Krishnamurthy

Is it OK t eat payadu (old food. considering it is bakshanam of varalakshmi vratam.
Thanks

Kindly clarify Sir, whether Morning Sandhya vandanam is to be performed before Sun rise or after Sun rise and evening Sandhya vandanam before Sun set or after Sun set

    Anand · September 3, 2015 at 3:39 am

More knowledeable people can correct me if I am wrong; the timing should be such that the argya pradanam should be done *at* sun rise/set.

Thanks a lot. This was very helpful. May I ask you to come up with an audio for performing Hiranya Srartham ?

Krishmaurthy Chandran Iyer · September 2, 2015 at 9:12 am

Hi

I have a doubt and kindly clarify. In you above presentation you have mentioned that we have to do Brahmayagnam daily and inthe last you have also mentioned to do Deva rishi tharpanam. I have a doubt only the Brahmayaganam file has to be performed and in continuation it lead to Deva rishi tharpanam even that need to be performed.

Kindly clarify ASAP. Thanks in advance

    vedabhavan · September 2, 2015 at 9:16 am

Brahmayagnam includes deva, rishi and pitru tharpanam. Only for convenience files have been split.
